Christian received a three-day community service term. He was convicted in 1997 of hitting his girlfriend, Michelle Jonas and assaulting a police officer while high on heroin, cocaine, and alcohol.

Slater had been consuming them for two days in a row and had gotten little to no sleep. He was treated in a rehabilitation institution for more than 100 days while on bail.

The actor received a three-month prison term and a three-month residential treatment facility sentence. The authorities released him from prison after 59 days based on his impeccable behavior.

On May 24, 2005, Slater was arrested in Manhattan, New York, for allegedly groping a lady on the street. In Manhattan's 19th precinct, he was arrested and charged with third-degree sexual abuse.
