In September 2018, Macy Brown and two others were arrested in connection to a non-injury shooting at Valley Ridge Apartments.
The New Albany police were dispatched to the Valley Ridge apartment complex at 9:30 PM on September 23 when they heard reports of shots fired. According to court records, numerous spent casings of various calibers were found along Village Drive North, and the state police retrieved spent casings inside two apartments.

Although both apartments had residents home at the time, thankfully no one was hurt. According to a witness, three men were seen getting out of a Mitsubishi Lance, one carrying an AR-15, one carrying a shotgun with a pistol grip, and another carrying a pistol.
Another witness stated that they heard shots when they looked outside and saw the three men running west on Village Drive North and getting into a silver car with which they then fled the scene. The witness also saw the same rifle, shotgun, and pistol the preview witness had been talking about.

A woman who was later identified as then-19-year-old Macy Brown was allegedly driving the car. The initial investigation yielded an iPhone that belonged to Cristian Alexander Archaga Rodriguez with a missed call from 22-year-old Javon Jones. The phone showed pictures of Jones's car and Rodriguez with a AR 15.
The authorities, specifically the U.S. Immigration and Customs, took Rodriguez into custody, where he was interviewed at the Deportation office in Louisville. During questioning, Rodriguez told the police that he knew Jones from work and that he had gone with Jones, and a 20-year-old man named Robert Booth, to scare an unknown man who had owed Jones money.
According to Rodriguez, Jones had armed himself and the other two with weapons. Brown drove the three men to the apartment complex, where they began shooting at a man on the phone while Rodriguez shot in the air.
The authorities found the car the witnesses had mentioned 300 block of Macarthur Drive where Brown and Jones live on September 26, and a search of the car turned up ammunition that incriminated the couple. Brown, Hones, and Booth were all charged with one level 5 felony count of criminal recklessness.
